About
Welcome to Wudon, a charming gem tucked away at 535 Great Western Rd, in the vibrant heart of Glasgow's West End. If you're a fan of delightful Japanese cuisine, you are in for a treat. With its cozy atmosphere and attentive staff, Wudon promises a warm and inviting dining experience.
The menu is thoughtfully curated, focusing on quality over quantity. When I took my seat here, the first impression was the friendly greeting from the staff, which set a positive tone for the evening. Patrons rave about dishes such as the teriyaki beef and chicken gyoza, both of which highlight the skill and passion behind the kitchen's short yet tantalizing offerings.
One standout recommendation is the beef dumplings, which have been described as "really delicious" by satisfied customers. The combination of flavors and textures here is something to write home about, as noted in a recent review. The rice with sirloin steak is another dish that has consistently garnered praise for its taste, complemented perfectly by the warm, welcoming ambiance and background music that enhances the overall dining experience.
However, it’s worth noting that a few patrons have mentioned the temperature at which some dishes are served. For instance, while the teriyaki beef stands out in flavor, some diners found it cooled quickly due to the plate it was served on. This minor hiccup didn’t detract from the overall satisfaction—a testament to the quality of the food itself.
Furthermore, those looking to enjoy a drink will not be disappointed. Wudon is known for its fabulous cocktails, expertly mixed to offer a refreshing complement to the sumptuous food. Whether you're enjoying a casual evening or celebrating a special occasion, the friendly vibe and delicious offerings make Wudon a must-visit destination in Glasgow.
As several reviews suggest, it’s a lovely informal place perfect for a meal—be sure to book in advance, especially on busy nights. With a commitment to excellence and a friendly approach to hospitality, Wudon not only satisfies your cravings but also ensures an enjoyable experience that you'll want to return for time and again.
“ Delicious food, fabulous cocktails, and the staff were very friendly. ”
“ Really delicious food and nice atmosphere with good music. The only slight downside was that the Teriyaki Beef was cold quite quickly, probably because of the cold plate it came on. But it tasted really good! From left to right I had the teriyaki beef, peach iced tea, chicken gyoza, edamame with sea salt and beef dumplings. ”
“ Lovey informal place to eat. Would recommend booking in advance ”
“ Lovely Japanese restaurant on Great Western Road in the trendy heart of Glasgow's West End. Stopped for a bite to eat on a wet and windy winter's evening. We received a warm welcome and were seated immediately. The menu is compact (which is a good thing, as they cook a small selection very well). I had rice with sirloin steak and my companions, chicken and prawn respectively. The food was great and very, very tasty I will come again next time I am in Glasgow ”
